Spiral Dynamics and NION-Santa Barbara present --
PEACE, PRE-EMPTION & OUR FUTURE
TUES, APRIL 15, 6:45PM
Karpeles Manuscript Library
21 W Anapamu, Santa Barbara
A forum about peacemakers, warriors, terrorists, & the forces in human nature that drive them
• Why our leaders can ignore the protests and global dissent
• Worldviews in collision: a battle for hearts & minds, not just oil, water and land
• Changes of Mind – how hawks become doves and doves become hawks
• Finding common ground on patriotism, protest and America’s role in the world
• A Spiral Dynamics framework: how worldviews impact war, peace & transformation
This forum will introduce a framework for understanding how and why people believe what they do – pro peace, pro war, or in between. It will provide and will show how this model provides insight into divergent beliefs and behavior in today's global struggle of war and peace - from terrorists and policymakers to peace activists and war supporters. There will be an open discussion of the problems facing our society and our world from a living systems perspective, as well as the changing nature of human nature, which the global peace and justice movement represents. This will be followed by an open discussion of the problems that face our society and our world from a living systems perspective, as well as the changing nature of human nature.
Speakers:
Christopher C. Cowan: co-author of Spiral Dynamics: Mastering Values, Leadership and Change
Natasha Todorovic: international lecturer and consultant using Spiral Dynamics
Ron Rowe: former chair, Santa Barbara Alliance for Democracy
PLEASE NOTE: Peace, Pre-emption and Our Future will be held during the Visions of Peace art exhibit also at the Karpeles Manuscript Library, along with a display of historic peace-related documents including handwritten speeches by the Reverend Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, landmark treaties, and other unique and timely pieces from the collection.
